Special Education Advisory Council (SEAC)

The purpose of Special Education Advisory Council is to advise the Student Support Services Director and District administration in the area of special education. It provides a forum for discussion of district, local, state and national programs and policies that affect special education services. SEAC also provides input and recommendation regarding special education services. The council establishes and implements annual goals and provides information and education on special education topics.

The Rochester School Board established SEAC in 1980.

  • The purpose of SEAC is to advise the Director of Student Support Services in the areas of special education.
     
  • SEAC provides a forum for discussion of district, local, state and national programs and policies which affect special education services.
  • SEAC provides input and recommendation regarding special education services. SEAC establishes and implements annual goals.
  • SEAC provides information and education on special education topics.


SEAC Goals:

Goal 1:  Promote recognition, understanding and compliance with special education laws.

Goal 2:  Improve performance of special education students in the district curriculum.

Goal 3:  Develop a clear role for SEAC
